Jules Verne in Amiens
The tallest Cathedral in France is Our Lady of Amiens, located in the town of Amiens, north of Paris. It is one of the best examples of early 13th century Gothic architecture and sculpture in the world, and it’s been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.
Jules Verne also lived here, moving to Amiens when he was at the height of his writing success. There is a museum here perfect for those interested in literature. The town is also well known for the floating gardens, which have been cultivated to provide Amiens with flowers and vegetables since medieval times.
Amiens is an ideal town to just kick back, relax, and truly enjoy the surroundings. We enjoyed the cafes, and spending time walking in the gardens, and the cathedral is a “can’t miss”!
